Inclusion and an Indonesian teacher

There’s nothing better where you get a teacher who makes the effort to help you feel included when you are in their class 🧑‍🏫🇮🇩

VD: the video is shot from a horse and cart navigating around the streets of Indonesia.

There is white text on a black background that reads :

When I was in Year 12, I studied Indonesian.

A really fond memory I have of this class is how the teacher made the effort to have frequent conversations with every student in the class in Indonesian.

This really helped me to feel included when I was in his class.

A) It helped me to increase my confidence in speaking Indonesian.

B) It helped me to realise that I had a teacher who wanted to support me to thrive in their class.

C) It helped me to build a connection with my teacher - something that is hard to come by, particularly in high school.

These conversations enabled me to thrive as a student- not only because they helped me to develop my Indonesian, but also it offered me an outlet to connect with someone else through a simple conversation.

If this teacher was out there, I want to let them know that these conversations were one of the highlights of year 12🇮🇩🗣️
